I have used Fidelity for at least 10 years. They currently allow trading stocks with zero commissions
and their executions are excellentin reply to: International Baler Corporation (IBAL) #16504What is the rationale for buying IBAL? No announcements/news, disappointing earnings, no movement in years, multiple days per week with zero volume.
in reply to: HCHC Rights Offering #16306Faris – Any comments?
SELLING PLAN: Sell half of your holdings when the stock doubles from your purchase price. Sell the remainder after the stock drops 25% from its most recent high. If the stock drops 50% without doubling, sell all shares.
So if you bought it at $1.14 like I did you would sell all if it drops to $0.57. If it had doubled to $2.28 then you would sell half and sell the remainder when it drops 25% from that.

I got hit with a $38 “mandatory reorganization fee” as a result of the reverse split.
in reply to: New Year New Portfolio #15805I do pretty much the same thing. Only difference is that I shoot for a specific dollar amount rather than number of shares. I want each position to cost a certain amount (say $2,000) so I immediately enter an order at the “price listed on the listing page” for 1/2 of that amount ($1,000 in this example.) I then wait for the price to fall below that amount to buy the second half of my position. I’ve missed out on some winners this way, but am quite happy with the over-all results.
I have also been a subscriber for many years. 2016 and 2017 were great, 2018 was terrible and 2019 was great again. Over-all, I’ve had a 20.47% return since I “joined” in January 2016 (computed using MS Excels IRR function.) Using the same formula, the S&P was up “only” 12.6% and the Russell was up 9.9% I have panicked a few times and sold “losers” before they had the time to run and have generally regretted it. I now follow the plan 100% of the time. However, I’m running into a “problem” where I think I have too many positions to keep track of – currently 18. Trying to convince myself that, since this part of my portfolio is on auto-pilot, the number of positions doesn’t matter much.
Hi, thank you a lot for your time and help, now I got it clear.

in reply to: vertex energy #15559I guess that energy name
won’t be Contango (MCF).I was right there when
MCF dropped to 85¢.woulda, shoulda,
Unfortunately, the coulda
was a little lacking.Thought there’d be
a little more time.If all stocks moved down
and back up that fast,
it would be easier to
make money. -
