A Big Day on the Street

(02/28/12): Today marked a big day on Wall Street indeed. The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit 13,000, a mark that the index danced around for the past week or so before finally making the leap. A sharp spike in consumer confidence, coupled with a slip in gas prices is likely to have caused the bump. According to Andrea Tse, reporter for The Street, the Conference Board reported a consumer confidence rating of 70.8 for the month of February, which is up from 61.5 for the month of January.

Also worth noting is the 2.12 drop in crude oil futures to a price of 106.44/barrel.
